OFFICIAL ALFA LAVAL DISTRIBUTOR

Maximum heat transfer efficiency in a small footprint

A brazed plate heat exchanger transfers heat between two separate fluids through a series of thin stainless steel plates without allowing the fluids to mix. The CB range from Alfa Laval features a compact, gasket-free design and is used for heating, water heating, cooling, heat pumps and industrial applications. Compared with gasketed plate heat exchangers, they require less installation space and their design does not require a frame or replaceable gaskets. For applications where copper brazing is not suitable, fusion-bonded plate heat exchangers are also available.

Used in district heating, space heating, domestic hot water, cooling and industrial applications.

Selection guide

Not sure whether a brazed heat exchanger is suitable for your application? In plate heat exchanger selection guide, we compare brazed, fusion-bonded and gasketed plate heat exchangers and explain when to choose which type.

FLANGES , CONNECTIONS, SUPPORTS, INSULATION

Everything you need to connect and install your heat exchanger

We supply a full range of accessories for safe and reliable connections. We manufacture selected accessories directly at our CNC production tailored to the specific type of heat exchanger and operating conditions.

INSULATION

Custom-cut insulation for reduced heat loss

We laser-cut the insulation to fit each specific heat exchanger model. It fits closely around the entire unit and retains its shape even after repeated removal and refitting, helping to minimise heat loss.

Installation

Bonded directly to the heat exchanger

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT BRAZED PLATE HEAT EXCHANGERS

What our customers ask

How do I choose the right plate heat exchanger?

To select the right heat exchanger, you need three key parameters: the required heat output in kW, the inlet and outlet temperatures on both the primary and secondary sides, and the heat transfer medium. Enter these values into our heat exchanger calculator to find the suitable model, number of plates and connection size. If you are unsure which heat exchanger to choose or how to enter the parameters correctly, contact us. We will be happy to help you select the right heat exchanger.

What heat output can a brazed plate heat exchanger handle?

The CB and CBH series cover a wide range of duties, from smaller residential installations to larger heating and cooling systems. The appropriate heat exchanger size and number of plates are selected based on the required heat output, inlet and outlet temperatures, flow rate, heat transfer medium and allowable pressure drop.

What do H, M and L mean in heat exchanger model designations?

The channel profile between the plates affects both heat transfer and pressure drop. H provides higher heat transfer efficiency, but also results in a higher pressure drop. L is used where a lower pressure drop is required, while M provides a balance between the two. The appropriate profile is selected according to the specific operating conditions.

Can you replace a heat exchanger from another manufacturer?

Yes. Send us the model designation or a photo of the nameplate on your existing heat exchanger. Based on its specifications, we will select the corresponding Alfa Laval model and, if necessary, provide a suitable solution for connecting it to your existing system.

Can the connections on a brazed plate heat exchanger be customised?

Yes. We manufacture connections, flanges, reducers and bent tubes in our own CNC production facility. This means we can supply the brazed plate heat exchanger with connections tailored to your specific piping system.

Can a brazed plate heat exchanger be cleaned?

Yes. Although brazed plate heat exchangers cannot be dismantled, deposits can be removed by chemical cleaning. If your heat exchanger starts to lose performance or you suspect fouling, contact our plate heat exchanger service.

Is a brazed plate heat exchanger suitable for swimming pools?

Brazed plate heat exchangers can also be used for swimming pool heating. The suitability of a particular model depends on the water composition and operating conditions. Contact us and we will help you select the right heat exchanger.
